The Marsh Sanctuary is home to a large meadow at the Meadowside Property located off Sarles Street. The meadow has a variety of ecologies from wetlands to uplands and is home to wonderful birds, turtles, frogs, and a diverse range of plant and insect species.
In attempt to give our visitors a better appreciation of this magical area we have established a walking trail through the meadow so you can get a close up view of some of the amazing things that live there. The trail is designed as a meander through the meadow that will give you an opportunity to experience the meadow close up in a way that is comfortable for our guests and safe for the plants and animals that live there. Each step along the way provides sweeping vistas and views of the areas around the meadow.
The new trail is easily accessed from the parking area and is not difficult to walk. It takes about 20 minutes (depending on how much you stop and enjoy the wild flowers along the way) to hike. It is designed to give our guests an opportunity to see some of the amazing wildflowers and native plants close up. The meadow is a great mix of interesting and unusual things.
The trail will change week to week throughout the year as the blooming plants change and the meadow gets taller, so it will be exciting to walk it at different times of the year. We also will be connecting this trail to other new trails that are in the works for future expansion of our trail system. Signs to help you find the trail are coming soon. Come and enjoy with us.
Here are a few pictures from the new trail for you to enjoy. If you take a picture while on the trail send it to us and we will add it to this gallery. As always any feed back you have regarding the trails and the work being done at Marsh is greatly appreciated. Let us know what you think and send us your pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org.
